    Santa Barbara, California

    January 26, 2024 / No Comments

We took a trip out west in September of 2023. I had a work conference in Scottsdale, and we hadn’t been to California in a few years. My son wanted to see Universal Studios Hollywood, and we wanted to see a friend who had moved to Santa Barbara several years ago. We stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn which is right next to the beach and is highly recommended. You can take in the view of the early morning cyclists and joggers from the patio as you enjoy your breakfast. We had a lovely stay, and look forward to returning soon. These shots are the last bit of Fuji 400H…

A Digital Camera that a Film Photographer Can Love: Fujifilm GFX 50R

    June 30, 2022 / No Comments

As the prices of film cameras and film rise, the economy of digital cameras becomes more obvious. However, as a film shooter, it’s difficult to fall in love with a digital camera. I have repeatedly said that digital cameras tend to be rather clinical, showing every detail without much character. I have always owned and used a digital camera since 2007 and appreciate the advantages they offer, but never really loved using them once I got back into film. However, due to a bit of luck in finding a demo model of a recently-discontinued camera, I was able to discover a digital camera that had some character of its own,…

    Casa Bacardí, Cataño, Puerto Rico

    June 12, 2022 / No Comments

Bacardí is the world’s largest privately-owned spirits company, and if you happen to be in Puerto Rico, you can visit the world’s largest premium rum distillery. The Bacardí spirit family includes Bacardí, Grey Goose, Patrón and Bombay Sapphire, to name a few. Bacardí is not just a brand name – it’s a family name. Bacardí was founded in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó in Santiago de Cuba. In the 1930’s, a distillery was built in Puerto Rico. Just shy of the company’s 100th anniversary, the Bacardí holdings in Cuba were seized by the government. Luckily, the family had moved the company’s trademarks and yeast strain out of Cuba before…
