We took a trip out west in September of 2023. I had a work conference in Scottsdale, and we hadn’t been to California in a few years. My son wanted to see Universal Studios Hollywood, and we wanted to see a friend who had moved to Santa Barbara several years ago. We stayed at the Santa Barbara Inn which is right next to the beach and is highly recommended. You can take in the view of the early morning cyclists and joggers from the patio as you enjoy your breakfast. We had a lovely stay, and look forward to returning soon. As the prices of film cameras and film rise, the economy of digital cameras becomes more obvious. However, as a film shooter, it’s difficult to fall in love with a digital camera. I have repeatedly said that digital cameras tend to be rather clinical, showing every detail without much character. I have always owned and used a digital camera since 2007 and appreciate the advantages they offer, but never really loved using them once I got back into film. The United States National Parks System has over 400 parks, including places of great natural beauty and historic significance. Included in our magnificent parks system is the San Juan National Historic Site. The site includes what remains of the walls which surrounded the City of San Juan, and one of the original gates, La Puerta de San Juan. The site also includes the forts which protected the city from invaders, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Castillo San Cristóbal, and Fort San Juan de la Cruz.
